The Theme of our Day is.....

Our theme for the day? Learning never exhausts the mind? Our learning is never ending? Time flies when you're having fun! Today, we applied the skill of identifying theme to a group of entertaining fables. Mrs. Mac had many theme ideas on the board. She read a fable to us, and we searched for the matching theme. We had to provide text examples to support our choice of theme. Some of us were very good at it! We then worked with partners on our chosen fables and mapped out the themes and support. Mrs. Mac was impressed with our work.

We also read our week's story, The Night of the Pomegranate. Many of us could relate to the main character Harriet. During the afternoon, we thought about the theme or lesson in the story at a learning center activity.

You can see above, we had a science lab today. We discovered the differences between suspensions and solutions. Using a funnel, filter paper, sand, and salt, we were able to filter the suspension. If we let the filtration evaporate from the salt mixture, we would find salt left behind. We then completed a lab reflecting our findings.
