6th Grade Chorus to Sing at the Court House

The chorus and band students were gone most of the day. We wish them well!
Homework from Thursday is due on Monday!

:) Have a great weekend!

Energy!

The Science Students are producing a lot of energy! We are doing a great job of producing a teaching demonstration on our sections. Mrs. Haddox is extremely impressed and pleased with our progress!
Math classes reviewed solving equations with decimals. We began to write equations for word problems. Mrs. Haddox stressed that it is important to use complete sentences when writing the answers. We used our knowledge of variables and decimals to complete the questions. We will review Chapter 2 on Monday and have our Test on Tuesday!
We tested our knowledge today in Miss C's class! Students took their Reading tests on "Storm-a-Dust," a Social Studies quiz on section 1 (Ch. 2), and last but not least an AR test on the entire Charlie Bone novel! WOW, did they think a lot! We also had a chance to begin our discussion on the entire Charlie Bone book, which will continue into next week. Miss C was very proud of our hard work.

Homework:
Science: Continue to work in your collaborative teaching groups.
Math: Page 122 in your text. Numbers 1-4, 11-18. Test on Tuesday.

Working Hard!!!

Today was a busy day in Miss C's classroom!! Writing classes worked on using sensory details to enhance a piece of writing. We had a lot of creative (for lack of a better word) ideas and responses. I wish you could have heard the energy and excitement!! By using sensory details in a writing, you can really put a solid "picture" of your details and descriptions in the reader's mind.

Social Studies was exciting as well! We reviewed our homework and created another study tool for tomorrow's quiz. I'm curious to see how many of you found the "foldable" vocabulary study guide useful?? Lastly, we finished off with a fun and exciting game of Jeopardy. Miss C was extremely impressed with the students hard work and participation. In both classes the lowest score was only around a 15/17 (WOW!). In fact, we had to come up with a difficult tie breaking in both rooms. Congratulations to our Jeopardy champs!
- Room 202: Kayla and Conrad
- Room 204: Carson and Rylee

We are working hard in Math and Science too! Math classes learned how to solve equations with decimals. We used the Promethean Board and our min-white boards to make it fun! Mrs. H was impressed with how quickly we learned!

Science classes are learning the meaning of collaboration and facilitaion! Mrs. Haddox gave us each a section of our chapter on Heat Energy and we have to create a teaching lesson from it! Mrs. Haddox is extrememly impressed with the Power Point Presentations that we are putting together. It is important for each of us to contribute to the lesson. Mrs. Haddox will grade us on participation and on our lesson.

Homework:

Language Arts: "Storm-a-Dust" spelling, vocabulary, and comprehension tests tomorrow.

Charlie Bone: Finish reading book and complete role for tomorrow.

Social Studies: Chapter 2, Section 1 quiz tomorrow.

Math: Complete page 29, both sides.

Choir and Band Christmas Concert!

Today we had a beautiful Christmas Choir and Band Concert!
We all did a great job singing and playing our instruments!

Because of our delay today and the NSIS Band & Chorus concert, Miss C has moved our Social Studies quiz to Thursday! Keep studying! Our Band and Chorus students did a wonderful job today =)

Homework:

Math: Start reviewing for Chapter 2 Test in Math. We only have one section left
before our test.
Language Arts: "Storm-a-Dust" tests Thursday
Charlie Bone: Finish reading Charlie Bone and complete role for Thursday
Social Studies: Section 1 ws (Part A only), Quiz Thursday

Snow delay!

Because of the snow delay and band practice, we did not have a lot of class time today.

In Math, we learned how to divide and multiply by powers of ten. We need to take our time and look at the operation and the exponent to know where to move our decimals.

We begin Energy in Science tomorrow! Mrs. H is excited!!

We briefly reviewed Section 1 in Social Studies and Miss C explained tonight’s homework. Students should be studying their notes and vocabulary terms from this section, as we have a quiz on Wednesday. Tomorrow will be a review day.

Reading classes got more practice with our story “Storm-a-dust.” Miss C feels that we now have a strong understanding of the rules for possessive nouns. Also, we took some time to review our vocabulary words. Keep reviewing for our tests on Thursday!

Homework:

Social Studies: Section 1 Worksheet Part A ONLY! Study notes and Worksheet for quiz on Wednesday.

Language Arts: Study for “Storm-a-Dust” tests on Thursday 12/16 (vocabulary, spelling, and comprehension)

Charlie Bone: Finish reading Charlie Bone and complete role for Thursday 12/16

Math: Worksheet 27. We will be having a Chapter 2 Test before we leave for break.

Tomorrow afternoon, we have the band and chorus concert. We look forward to seeing our friends sing and play!
