Getting Ready for a Big Night!
Our team is very excited about Open House! All parents are invited to attend Open House tomorrow evening at from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. The students have many pieces of beautiful work to share, and we are very excited as teachers to meet you! Please come, and make the evening a success!
In Language Arts, we are beginning a new story called Teammates. The story is about Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier in Major League Baseball, and we are very excited to begin! Today, we focused on our skill for the week - Author's Viewpoint. We read a short story about baseball to help us search for words the author uses that indicates his/her viewpoint. Tomorrow, we'll practice more.
Our new spelling list is a bit tricky! All the words contain ie and ei spelling patterns. We will be working on these words for the next week. Students can also practice using the Spelling City link on our blog.
In Science, we finished our posters depicting the Earth's layers. The students did a nice job on these posters. Please look for them at Open House.
The students reviewed estimating products and quotients. We learned that when you estimate a product, you need to round to EACH number's greatest place value. When you round a sum or difference, you are to compare and round to BOTH numbers highest place value. The students were given some sample problems to practice tonight.
Homework:
Language Arts - Trace + 2 for spelling practice is due tomorrow. Also, share your "Family Times" paper.
Math - 2-7 worksheet and R1-6, numbers 1-8 only
Science- Finish the Earth's Layers Poster
